Required Reading - 4th grade

These are all the books Jay read for Required Reading in 4th grade. The Required Reading list was only for a part of Language Arts. It does not include the books read for any other subject or for other aspects of Language Arts.

Yes, I realize that this list is a strange collection. The books range from 4th grade level to about 8th grade level. Some were books I really wanted him to read. Some were books that I thought he'd be interested in, but was sure he wouldn't pick up on his own. My main purpose in having a 'Required Reading' list is to make sure he reads from a wide selection of genres, authors, styles, etc., and that he does not stay stagnant in his reading abilities. I don't mind him reading books below the level at which he can read (his comfort level is a bit below his ability level), but wouldn't want him to only read books at those levels & never challenge himself to get out of his comfort zone. The list had 48 books. Of those, he read all but 7. Here are the ones he did read:

The Gruesome Guide to World Monsters
Secret of the Andes
The Incredible Journey
Al Capone Does My Shirts
